NHL Rumors: Blackhawks Open To Trading All But 3 Players
On his latest "32 Thoughts", NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman discussed the Chicago Blackhawks' willingness to listen to trade offers on pretty much everyone on their roster. He calls them "a team to watch over the next few weeks."
"The Blackhawks are testing the value of anyone that other teams want to ask about. They're willing to listen," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "As another GM said, 'Can you make them an offer that makes them seriously want to think about it?'"
But before teams get over-zealous, they need not ask about Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Seth Jones. They all have "no-move" clauses. Kane and Toews have been in Chicago for 15 and 14 years respectively, and the Blackhawk icons won't be going anywhere. Jones is starting a new 8-year deal.
As was the case with Brandon Hagel, however, earlier this season, if they get an offer on anyone else that they can't refuse, they'll think long and hard about pulling the trigger.
Hawks GM Kyle Davidson said they're looking to move back into the first round of the draft. "Being where we're at in our trajectory, that's where the talent is found," Davidson told reporters about moving up in the draft. "That's where we need to bring players in at. So, it's definitely something we'll look at."
