NHL Rumors: Canucks Forward Done In Vancouver

Nic Petan's time with the Vancouver Canucks is likely over, as the 27-year-old forward is currently engaging in contract talks with Omsk Avangard of the KHL.

Petan just completed his first season with the Canucks but was not utilized all too often. In 18 games with the NHL squad, he recorded two assists and sported a minus-2 rating. He primarily played with their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, however. With them, he was dominant, as he recorded 44 points in 37 games.

Petan has spent much of his professional career bouncing between the NHL and AHL, so it makes sense that he is at least considering the idea of heading overseas. In 154 career games over eight seasons between the Jets, Leafs, and Canucks, he has six goals, 24 assists, and 30 points.
