NHL Rumors: Flames Defenseman Garnering Trade Interest
According to the Fourth Period, there's a chance that the Calgary Flames could trade Oliver Kylington to save cap space.
Kylington just had a career year for the Flames. In 73 games, he had nine goals, 31 assists, and a plus-34 rating. The 25-year-old finally emerged as a legitimate defenseman, but unfortunately for the Flames, he is due for a new contract and a notable raise. This is where the possibility of a trade comes up.
The Flames have several other key players to re-sign like Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Andrew Mangiapane. Keeping all three of these forwards and Kylington will be challenging, so perhaps we could see the defenseman moved. Time will tell what happens on that front.
