NHL Rumors: Ilya Mikheyev Sets Asking Price For Next Contract

According to Chris Johnston, Ilya Mikheyev is looking for $4-$5 million AAV on his next contract this offseason.

Mikheyev is one of the Maple Leafs' top pending UFAs, and they'd love to keep him around if possible. The 27-year-old just put up a very good 2021-22 season, as he scored 21 goals and recorded 32 points in 53 games. Yet, that high of an AAV will be difficult for the Leafs to match given their limited cap space.

There would likely be teams willing to give Mikheyev that kind of money on the free agency market, so we will have to wait and see where the Russian winger ends up from here.
