NHL Rumors: Jets Exploring Trade Market For Captain
According to Frank Seravalli, the Winnipeg Jets are exploring the trade market for Blake Wheeler.
Something important to note is that Wheeler's full no-movement clause changes to a five-team trade list on July 1st. Thus, the Jets will have a bit more wiggle room to complete a potential deal. Seravalli also noted that Wheeler may willing to accept a move to a team not on his list if they are a potential fit.
Offensively, Blake Wheeler is still a very good player, and the truth is in his stats. In 65 games this campaign, he scored 17 goals and recorded 60 points. Although teams would love to add that kind of production to their top six, his $8.25 million cap hit until the completion of the 2023-24 season is a lot to take on.
We will have to wait and see if the Jets end up moving their longtime captain.
