NHL Rumors: Oilers Prospect Done In Edmonton
According to Dynamo Moscow's GM Alexei Sopin, Edmonton Oilers prospect Ilya Konovalov is signing with the KHL team for the 2022-23 season. Thus, the 23-year-old netminder's contract with the Oilers is expected to be terminated from here.
Konovalov made the switch to North American hockey this season, and it's fair to say that he struggled during it. In 17 games with the Bakersfield Condors, he had an .893 SV% to go along with a 2.73 GAA.
Konovalov was selected by the Oilers with the 85th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Once viewed as a potential future goaltender for Edmonton, but now it appears his time with the organization is coming to a close.
