NHL Rumors: Oilers To Shop Defenseman
NHL Insider Frank Seravalli recently released his first Trade Targets piece for the 2022 NHL offseason. One interesting player on it who we could see on the move this summer is Tyson Barrie.
The Oilers are in a position where they need to make changes. This is especially true when it comes to goaltending. Unfortunately, they also do not have much salary cap to work with. With Edmonton's right side being strong, Barrie and his $4.5 million cap hit could be worth moving. Like Seravalli noted, they also have prospect Philip Broberg who seems ready to become a full-time NHLer. Thus, they have a potential replacement already.
Teams looking for more offense from the point should be calling the Oilers about Barrie. Alas, don't be surprised to see the 30-year-old sporting a new jersey for the 2022-23 season.
