NHL Rumors: Penguins Could Target Canucks Star

According to Rob Simpson, the Pittsburgh Penguins could express interest in J.T. Miller if they lose Evgeni Malkin through free agency.

At this juncture, Malkin returning to Pittsburgh is not a guarantee. The star center can test the market in a little over two weeks, so the Penguins will need to act quickly to keep him around. However, if they lose him, Miller could be a strong replacement down the middle for them.

Miller just put together the best season of his career, as he recorded a spectacular 99 points in 80 games. Yet, he is also entering the final year of his deal, so his name has come up in the rumor mill. It will be intriguing to see if the Penguins enter the sweepstakes, but their primary goal is to get Malkin signed first.
