NHL Rumors: Predators Aiming To Trade Defenseman
According to Frank Seravalli, the Nashville Predators will be aiming to trade Philippe Myers and his $2.55 million cap hit this summer.
Although Myers may not seem like a particularly alluring trade target because of his high cap hit, he could attention around the league. This is because if a team acquires him and buys him out, they would gain $616,666 of cap space due to him being 25 years old and having a backloaded contract - which Seravalli noted. This is where a market could form.
Myers' first season with the Predators was one he would like to forget. In 27 games with Nashville, he had four points and was placed on waivers. Thus, a change of scenery could be the best thing for the 6-foot-5 defenseman. Alas, let's see if anything comes from this during the summer.
