Panthers Sign Defenseman
The Florida Panthers have signed Calle Sjalin to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Sjalin was originally drafted by the New York Rangers with the 145th overall pick of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Yet, the Blueshirts decided to pass on signing him to an ELC, so the 22-year-old defenseman has a new home with the Panthers.
Sjalin definitely earned this ELC with Florida, as he just put up the best season of his SHL career. In 46 games, he set new career-highs with six goals, 16 assists, and 22 points. The youngster showed serious progression in this campaign, so it will be intriguing to see if this trend now carries over to North America.
