Predators Sign Forward
The Nashville Predators have signed Markus Nurmi to an entry-level contract.
Nurmi was selected by the Ottawa Senators with the 163rd overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but the team elected not to sign him to an ELC. Now, the 23-year-old winger is receiving the opportunity to begin his North American career with the Predators.
Nurmi has spent each of the last seven seasons with TPS Turku of the Finnish Liiga. Yet, he just put together his best campaign, as he set new career-highs with 20 goals, 19 assists, and 39 points in 56 games. Thus, the 6-foot-4 winger has earned this ELC and is joining the Predators while hot. Let's see if any of this translates over to the NHL from here.
