Sabres Sign Prospect
The Buffalo Sabres have signed Filip Cederqvist to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Cederqvist was selected by the Sabres with the 143rd overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he has been working on his development in Sweden. This season was truly his breakout campaign, however, as he recorded 32 points in 49 games with Djurgardens IF of the SHL. This was also the 22-year-old's first full season in the SHL, so it's hard not to feel optimistic about the youngster.
Cederqvist will now be aiming to carry this momentum over to North America. It seems more likely than not that he will begin the season with the Rochester Americans, but if he has a strong camp, perhaps he can make his NHL debut immediately.
