Sharks Forward Moves On From San Jose
The San Jose Sharks have lost Joachim Blichfeld, as the 23-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with the SHL's Vaxjo Lakers.
Blichfeld made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last two seasons but not very often. In eight total games as a Shark, he had one goal and a minus-4 rating. With the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL this season, he scored 24 goals and recorded 45 points in 61 points. Thus, he is a player with some offensive potential, but he will now be heading to Sweden to work on his development.
If the Sharks send Blichfeld a qualifying offer, they will have control over his NHL rights if he decides to return to North America. However, at least for now, Blichfeld's time as a Shark is over.
