Stars Sign Defenseman To Extension
The Dallas Stars have signed Alexander Petrovic to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will have a $750,000 cap hit.
Petrovic spent the entirety of the 2021-22 season with the Texas Stars. In 71 games with the AHL squad, he had five goals, 14 assists, and 73 penalty minutes. With that, he became an important part of the roster, as he was one of the team's alternate captains. Thus, with all of this, it's understandable that the Stars decided to extend him.
Although Petrovic last played in the NHL during the 2018-19 season with the Edmonton Oilers, it seems possible that he could get a call-up to Dallas next year if injuries pile up. Yet, at worst, he will continue to be a veteran depth defenseman for them.
