Stars Sign Forward To Extension
The Dallas Stars have signed Denis Gurianov to a one-year, $2.9 million contract extension.
Although Gurianov was set to become a restricted free agent, it was smart of the Stars to give him his new contract before the offseason began. Now, they have the 25-year-old locked up and have a better understanding of how much money they will have available for free agency.
It is understandable that the Stars opted to give Gurianov a short-term deal, too. The 25-year-old's pace of production went a bit down this season, as he had 11 goals and 31 points in 72 games. Those aren't bad numbers at all, but it's important to note that he did record a 30-point campaign in just 55 games the year before.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see how Gurianov performs from here. If he has a big season in 2022-23, expect him to land a long-term extension next summer.
