• Matt Grzelcyk underwent shoulder open stabilization procedure, out 5 months
• Charlie McAvoy underwent shoulder arthroscopic stabilization procedure, out 6 months
• Mike Reilly underwent ankle tendon repair & removal of bone fragments, out 3 months
The Bruins report that top defenseman Charlie McAvoy is likely to be out until early December following a “shoulder arthroscopic stabilization procedure”. He’ll need six months of recovery time.
Matt Grzelcyk also needed shoulder stabilization surgery. His will require five months to return, meaning he could miss about a month of the season.
And yet another defenseman went under the knife, as Mike Reilly had ankle surgery to repair a tendon and remove bone fragments. He, however, should return around training camp.
They all join Brad Marchand, who we learned last week will miss nearly two months of the 2022-23 season after undergoing double hip surgery.
Could be a challenging start to the season for the B’s.
