The Golden Knights will have to make other moves this off season to free up cap space to officially sign Smith, unless the forward has agreed to be paid an entry-level type contract which is unlikely.
The thirty-one year old forward was selected by Vegas in their expansion draft and has played 321 games for the franchise, posting 98 goals and 132 assists for 230 points.
