Wild To Not Sign Former First-Round Pick
According to Michael Russo, the Minnesota Wild will not be signing 2018 first-round pick Filip Johansson. Due to this, the team will be getting a compensation pick (56th overall) for this year's entry draft.
Although the Wild are getting some sort of compensation for letting Johansson become a UFA, it certainly stings to whiff on a first-round pick so significantly. Now, Johansson will be aiming to land a home with another NHL team. Yet, there's also a good chance that he will be stuck in the SHL from here.
In 47 games this season with Frolunda HC, Johansson had three goals to go along with eight assists.
