Blue Jackets Sign Defenseman To Extension
Adam Boqvist has signed a three-year, $7.8 million ($2.6 million AAV) contract extension with the Blue Jackets.
Boqvist was one of the main pieces that came back to Columbus in the Seth Jones trade last offseason. The change of scenery did Boqvist well, as he scored an impressive 11 goals and had 22 points in 52 games. Overall, it was a good first year with the Blue Jackets for the 2018 first-round pick. It will be interesting to see how he performs after earning himself this very good extension.
Boqvist is viewed as possessing a lot of potential and is already showing signs of being a good offensive defenseman at the NHL level. As he continues to get experience, he should only improve from here.
