Braden Holtby Sitting Out Next Season
While there's going to be a ton of fortunate news on July 13 as free agency begins, some unfortunate news broke on Tuesday as it's being reported goaltender Braden Holtby is sitting out the 2022-23 season and retirement is very likely at this point.
UFA netminder Braden Holtby won't be taking part in the market when it opens tomorrow. As @frank_seravalli reported recently, the veteran goalie likely can't play next year due to injury. Sounds like retirement also a possibility.

The 32-year-old has battled a number of injuries over the past few seasons and toughed it out to appear in 24 games last season with the Dallas Stars, where he posted a 2.78 GAA and a .913 save %. There would have been a number of teams interested had he decided he could play.
Holtby sits with a career record of 299-143-50, including 35 shutouts to go along with a career .915 save %. If this is truly the end for the 32-year-old, we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life.
I think that the @Capitals @MSE should hire Braden Holtby as the Community Relations Director for the Capitals. I can't think of a better human being to be the face of the team in the community.
