Canadiens Re-Sign Defenseman
The Canadiens have signed Corey Schueneman to a one-year, two-way contract extension. At the NHL level, he will carry a $750,000 cap hit.
Schueneman proved to be a solid depth defenseman for the Canadiens this campaign, so it isn't too surprising to see that he has earned this new contract. In 24 games with Montreal, he scored two goals and recorded six points. He primarily spent this campaign with the Laval Rocket, however. In 32 games as their alternate captain, he scored four goals and had 11 points.
Overall, this is a good little signing for the Canadiens. It will be intriguing to see how often Montreal utilizes him from here.
