Dallas Stars Sign Defenseman
The Dallas Stars have signed Will Butcher to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will make $750,000.
Butcher will be competing for a spot on Dallas' roster for the 2022-23 season. A one-time Hobey Baker Award winner, Butcher entered the NHL in 2017-18 with a 44-point campaign in 81 games. Since then, his offensive numbers have declined. Heading into this upcoming season, he will be looking to get back on track.
Honestly, this has the potential to be a good low-risk, high-reward signing if Butcher can find his old form. At worst, he will be a solid depth defenseman for them. Not a bad deal at the end of the day.
