Devils Sign Goaltender

The Devils have signed Vitek Vanecek to a three-year contract. He will have an average annual value of $3.4 million.

Vanecek was recently acquired by the Devils from the Capitals. In 42 games last season in DC, he sported a 20-12-6 record, 2.67 GAA, and .908 SV%. Overall, it was a year of mixed results for the 26-year-old, but that didn't stop the Devils from giving him both term and a fairly high salary. 

Vanecek will be looking to be more consistent as a Devil from here. Heading into the 2022-23 season, he will be competing for the starting job with Mackenzie Blackwood. If both goaltenders play up to their potential, they will be a strong tandem.
