The Golden Knights once again were forced to trade away one of their top players for absolutely nothing. Vegas' lack of cap space was to blame for this, and now Patches will be a Hurricane. Although the 33-year-old had injury trouble in 2021-22, he was still very effective when healthy. In 39 games, he scored 19 goals and recorded 37 points. He will give Carolina a nice boost to their top six.
Coghlan, on the other hand, is also a pretty solid addition to the Hurricanes. In 59 games this past season, the 24-year-old defenseman scored three goals and recorded 13 points. He should work well on their bottom pair and has the potential to improve as he gets some experience.
