Flames Forward Wants Long-Term Extension
While speaking with Sportsnet 960, Andrew Mangiapane's agent, Ritch Winter, said that the 26-year-old is interested in signing a long-term extension with the Flames.
This news is certainly encouraging to see, as Calgary has had a deflating offseason. First, they of course lost Johnny Gaudreau to the Blue Jackets, and now there are rumblings that Matthew Tkachuk's time with the Flames could be coming to a close. Even if the latter does not come to fruition, bringing back Mangiapane is a necessity at this juncture.
In 82 games this past season, Mangiapane set new career-highs with 35 goals, 20 assists, and 55 points. The Toronto native will be looking to build on this breakout campaign in 2022-23. Let's see if the Flames can lock him up long-term from here.
