Maple Leafs Sign Veteran Defenseman
The Maple Leafs have signed Jordie Benn to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Benn spent the 2021-22 campaign as a member of the Wild. In Minnesota, he played in 39 games, where he scored a goal and added seven assists. The 34-year-old is more known for his physical style of play, however. That is something the Leafs are looking to add on, so it makes sense that they are giving Benn a shot.
Benn will likely be utilized as the team's seventh defenseman from here. In 595 career games between the Stars, Canadiens, Canucks, Jets, and Wild, he has 25 goals, 110 assists, and 135 points.
