This past season, Montembeault played 38 games with the Canadiens, posting an .891 save percentage, 3.77 goals against average, and an 8-18-6 record.
The Canadiens claimed Montembeault off waivers from the Panthers last October. The twenty-five year old had spent his entire NHL career with the Panthers organization before that, posting a 9-8-3 record and an .892 save percentage.
Montreal's goaltending situation going into the 2022-23 season currently looks like: Carey Price (LTIR), Jake Allen, Samuel Montembeault, and Cayden Primeau.
