NHL Rumors: 3 Maple Leafs Trade Candidates

The Toronto Maple Leafs may have some major decisions to make when it comes to their goaltending. Pending free agent Jack Campbell is in need of a new contract and the vibe has been talks are not going as planned. General manager Kyle Dubas is facing the heat to try and upgrade in net if Campbell leaves and may have to make some additional trades if he ends up signing one of talented free agents come July 13. Let's take a look at three Leafs who may be traded this summer:

Petr Mrazek

There's zero doubt around the NHL, the Maple Leafs are trying to move Petr Mrazek and have been willing to part with a solid prospect to entice other teams. Dubas signed him last offseason once it was determined Frederik Andersen was leaving and now all that's happened since is Andersen was lights out for the Carolina Hurricanes, meanwhile the Leafs placed Mrazek on waivers half way through his first season. He's on the books for two more seasons at $3.8 million per, so look for Toronto to try and do whatever they can at the draft to move on here.

Jake Muzzin

The Maple Leafs love Muzzin and were very happy with how the veteran performed during their first-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, they may have no choice but to move Muzzin and his $5.6 million cap hit, as they may need the resources to sign a goaltender. The team also has former first-round pick Rasmus Sandin who is due for a contract extension and may have to decide one or the other.

Alex Kerfoot

To this point, all signs point to Alexander Kerfoot being shopped and William Nylander staying put. Kerfoot brings a lot to the table for the Maple Leafs as he's able to fit in nicely at left wing on the second line or move to center when needed. He's entering the final season of his contract, making $3.5 million in 2022-23, and very well could be moved to free up some more financial flexibility. Again, all of this is tied to what exactly shapes up for the Maple Leafs in their crease.
