NHL Rumors: John Klingberg Linked to 2 Teams via Free Agency

The Dallas Stars are moving on from offensive defenseman John Klingberg after last season was full of ups and downs. Klingberg at one point went public with his feelings of not being appreciated in Big D, and from that point on the trade rumors ran rampant and now the right-handed defenseman is set to hit the open market.

While Dallas appears to be walking away, there's a couple of teams who make the most sense for the 6-foot-3 blueliner:

Carolina Hurricanes

The 'Canes tried hard to acquire Klingberg last season before the trade deadline and came up short and now they'll be able to negotiate solely on Wednesday. Klingberg could help fill a need in Carolina after losing Dougie Hamilton and trading away Tony DeAngelo recently. Klingberg recorded 47 points in 74 games last season and has shown in the past he's capable of reaching close to 70 points. The Hurricanes are desperate for more offense and could be the highest bidder later this week.

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken's defense is not offensively gifted and for that matter, neither are many of their forwards. They are desperately trying to sign some talent who can help put the puck in the net and Klingberg has the game to do so. Look for the Kraken to be heavily involved in talks with Klingberg, along with a couple of the big name forwards set to hit the open market on July 13.
