NHL Rumors: Kraken Targeting High-End Forward Or Scorer
It appears as though the Seattle Kraken aren't ready to commit to a rebuild after their first season didn't go as planned. They already have Matty Beniers on the team and got a great first look at him at the end of the season plus a number of other solid players. The piece they are missing that they didn't go after in the expansion draft was a high-end forward. They did have a chance to take Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues, but opted to go with a younger Vince Dunn.
As per Chris Johnston, it looks like the Kraken are now looking to add that high-end forward or depth scorer to improve the offensive output. The team finished 29th in the league in goals, and at least one impact player could change that. They have more than enough cap space to bring in anyone if they're willing in free agency.
The team was reportedly one of the teams interested in Kevin Fiala, so they are trying to make a splash. Some names that we should watch for are Johnny Gaudreau, Filip Forsberg, Nazem Kadri, Ryan Strome, David Perron, Ondrej Palat, Reilly Smith, Andre Burakovsky, and Rickard Rakell. Any of these players would instantly be inserted into the top-six and all of them are looking for big paydays after their success in different ways.
Don't be surprised if the Kraken adds even two of these players as a couple of them have already experienced and had success on an expansion team.
