NHL Rumors: Latest on Canucks J.T Miller Trade Buzz
The trades have been coming in early and often this NHL offseason and things are just getting warmed up. With free agency less than a week away, a goaltending carousel in progress, and a number of teams trying to be aggressive, this summer is going to be fun to watch. One name out there, Vancouver Canucks forward J.T Miller.
Hockey insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff has gone as far as ranking Miller as his number one trade candidate.
The Canucks and Miller are far apart on parameters of a contract extension and there has been no shortage of outside interest in Miller, which the Canucks have been fielding since even before GM Patrik Allvin was hired.
The Canucks are trying to shake things up, however the versatile forward is a huge part of their success. His contract status is the cause of the crossroads, as he's eligible for an extension however Miller may be too rich for Canucks management's blood.
Trading the 29-year-old who is coming off a career high 99 point season with one year left on his contract could be a wise play in Vancouver. Miller is set to make a very reasonable $5.25 million next season and with no trade protection, the Canucks have all the control.
