NHL Rumors: Lightning Forward Set To Sign Extension
According to Darren Dreger, the Lightning are close to signing Nick Paul to a multi-year extension.
Lightning GM Julien BriseBois made it clear that re-signing Paul was one of his biggest objectives for this offseason. Now it appears that an extension is now coming into place.
Paul turned out to be an awesome deadline acquisition for Tampa, so it makes sense that they want to keep him around for multiple years. In 21 regular-season games following the move, he scored five goals and had 14 points. With that, he recorded nine points in 23 playoff games.
Update: Nick Paul has signed a seven-year, $22.05 million ($3.15 million AAV) contract to stay with the Lightning.
