NHL Rumors: Sharks Brent Burns Linked to Western Conference Team
The San Jose Sharks will let defenseman Brent Burns determine his future as new general manager Mike Grier recently admitted if Burns wants out to chase a Stanley Cup, the team can accommodate him.
Burns has a permanent residence in Texas and the Dallas Stars have to heavily linked to the dynamic defenseman. The Nashville Predators were reportedly on Burns wish list as well, however they seem to be out of the picture with their latest transactions.
LeBrun on Insider Trading says Stars and Hurricanes have shown some interest in Brent Burns. LeBrun adds Burns has a full no-move but he has 3 teams he can be dealt to without consent and it is believed Dallas and Carolina are among those 3 teams.

Cont'd: "Don't forget he has a permanent residence in Texas, now I don't think that would be an easy deal to do, would be DAL and SJ, it would take work, but I did have someone say to me that if the Stars could make it work he can see a situation where Burns could end up there".

Grier spoke to the media on Burns' future and had this to say:
He’s been here a long time. He’s been a great Sharks player. I’ll let him kind of lead the way a little bit on that, go off his lead. As a former player myself, as you get older, you want to keep that competitive fire burning. And what keeps that burning is the chase for the Cup and winning. Depending on the conversation, if it is something where he says he wants to go somewhere and try and win, I get it. We all play to win. We all play to lift that trophy. As you get older, you start to see the end of the line. I would understand if that’s the route he wants to go.
The 37-year-old defenseman has three seasons left on his contract, paying him $8 million annually. Last season he finished the year with 54 points in 82 games.
Sounds like Brent Burns to Dallas has picked up steam. One to watch for this morning.
