NHL Rumors: Vincent Trocheck Linked to 2 Teams
The Vincent Trocheck sweepstakes are starting to take shape after there were a number of players re-signed late Tuesday night. With Evgeni Malkin returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Trocheck, the Pittsburgh native is off their list. Look for two teams to battle hard to sign the gifted center as the New York Rangers appear to be the favorites with the Seattle Kraken likely to open up the vault.
The Rangers want to move on from Ryan Strome, who isn't as good as a 200-foot player as Trocheck. The latter is someone who fits the bill for head coach Gerard Gallant and his work-horse mentality. While Trocheck finished with 51 points in 81 games, it's his willingness to muck it up in the dirty areas and throw his weight around that appeals to the Rangers.
Friedman writes on the Sportsnet website that if Malkin signs elsewhere, Vincent Trocheck is one of their targets. Originally Boston was linked to Trocheck but with the pending returns of Bergeron and Krejci, Pittsburgh and the NY Rangers seem more likely.

Vincent Trocheck may be a surprise name on the list be we believe in him. His career is up and down and it may be hard to predict his next path, but he is pretty good 2C who can drive play and is solid in transition. pic.twitter.com/IryRTJ74v7

The Kraken on the other hand are going to do whatever they can to upgrade their offense. It's likely they have to overpay to outbid other teams and Trocheck along with Ryan Strome and Nazem Kadri are at the top of their list.
