NHL Veteran Bobby Ryan Arrested at Nashville Airport
In some unfortunate news, long-time NHL forward Bobby Ryan has been arrested at a Nashville airport. The news came Monday as apparently Ryan had taken some items from an airport store without paying and proceeded to the bar to order more drinks. When Police arrived they noticed he was very intoxicated and was not initially compliant with Police.
According to reports the store declined prosecution, meanwhile Ryan was brought into the drunk tank and jailed for public intoxication. The 35-year-old has battled Alcoholism throughout his career and this is certainly not the news anyone wanted to hear.
I’ve had so many incredible messages today. Thank you for all of them. Today is day 1 (again). Mostly embarrassed, but I shouldn’t be. Today I’m waking up and choosing better.

Back in 2019, as a member of the Ottawa Senators, Ryan entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, citing alcohol abuse. He took an extended leave from the team, righted the ship and got back onto the ice. He'd go on to win the NHL's Masterton Trophy, an award which goes to the player who best exemplifies qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
