The twenty-eight year old forward recorded six goals and 12 assists in 70 games played for the Ottawa Senators this past season. In the 2018-19 season, as a twenty-four year old, Tierney appeared ready to breakout as he recorded a career high 48 points. It's all been downhill from there however, as he's recorded 37, 19, and 18 points in the three years following that season.
Perhaps, the Panthers can bring back the Chris Tierney that the Sharks and Senators, for his first season with them, saw. The Panthers will likely utilize him in the bottom of their lineup and, if worst comes to worst, might send him down to their AHL affiliate if he doesn't work out.
At the very least, Tierney will provide some depth to the Panthers' lineup and is a good low-risk signing for the club.
