Penguins Re-Sign Forward
Alex Nylander is staying with the Penguins, as he has signed a one-year, two-way contract extension. At the NHL level, he will carry a $750,000 cap hit.
Nylander was acquired by the Penguins from the Blackhawks during the 2021-22 season in exchange for Sam Lafferty. Nylander has yet to make his debut with the team, but he did put together decent stats with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 44 games with the AHL squad, he scored 14 goals and recorded 30 points.
Nylander will now be pushing for a spot on the Penguins' NHL roster next season. A former first-round pick, he has not played in an NHL game since the 2019-20 season. In 84 career games, he has 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 points.
