Chiarot appeared in 74 games this past season, split between the Canadiens and the Panthers, scoring nine goals and 17 assists for 26 total points.
The Red Wings are in need of help on the blue line and Chiarot aids this, althoug it comes at a steep price. However, the veteran presence and experience will be beneficial to young defenders such as Seider and Edvinsson.
The thirty-one year old is a good skater, strong along the boards and in front of the net, and loves to hit. He'll likely be used on the top defensive pairing line this upcoming season.
