San Jose Sharks Forward Heading To KHL
The Sharks are losing Sasha Chmelevski, as the 23-year-old forward has signed with Ufa Salavat Yulaev of the KHL.
Chmelevski appeared in 19 games for the Sharks this season, where recorded eight assists. He also played with the San Jose Barracuda, where he had 37 points in 47 games. Overall, the 2017 sixth-round pick seemed to getting closer to being an NHL regular, but now he is instead heading to the KHL.
If Chmelevski ever elects to return to the NHL, the Sharks will have control over his rights. This is because the club sent him a qualifying offer this offseason. Yet, for now, he will be heading to the KHL. Time will tell if he ever comes back to San Jose later down the road.
