Seattle Kraken Sign Defenseman
The Kraken have signed Michal Kempny to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Kempny spent this last season with the Capitals. In 15 games with the NHL club, he scored a goal and had an assist. He primarily played with their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, though. Down in Hershey, he was a strong veteran presence and played top minutes. In 24 games, he recorded seven assists.
Kempny will be aiming to make Seattle's NHL roster from here. The 31-year-old will likely be utilized as the team's seventh defenseman or top call-up option. Either way, this is a good little depth signing for the Kraken.
