Senators Sign Defenseman To Extension
The Senators have signed Dillon Heatherington to a two-year, two-way extension.
Heatherington got into his first NHL action since the 2018-19 season this year with Ottawa. In nine games with the Senators, he failed to record a point and had seven penalty minutes. He primarily was a strong veteran presence for the Belleville Senators instead. In 45 games with the AHL squad, he scored two goals and recorded 11 points.
Heatherington will continue to be a solid call-up option for the Senators from here. If the 27-year-old defenseman continues to impress, perhaps he could even win himself a spot on their NHL roster at the start of the 2022-23 campaign. Either way, this is a good depth signing for the Senators in what should be a busy summer for them.
