Sharks and Hurricanes Make Trade
The Sharks have traded defenceman Brent Burns to the Hurricanes.
The deal involves Burns (33% contracrt retained) and Lane Pederson to Carolina for Steven Lorentz, Eetu Makiniemi and a 2023 third round pick.

Burns put up 10 goals and 44 assists in 82 games this past season for the Sharks. The thirty-seven year old has three years remaining on his contract at $8 million annually.
Steven Lorentz scored 13 points in 67 games this past season. The twenty-six year old is a restricted free agent.
Makiniemi played 14 games for the Chicago Wolves this past season (AHL affiliate of the Hurricanes), posting an 11-2 record, .922 save percentage and 2.06 goals against average. The twenty-three year old will be a restricted free agent after this season.
