Johnson spent this past season with the Colorado Avalanche, where he proved to be a solid bottom-pair guy. In 74 games, he had one goal, eight assists, and a plus-5 rating. With that, he also was a good veteran presence in their locker room as they went on to win the Stanley Cup. Now, he is set to be a mentor on a rebuilding Blackhawks squad.

There's no harm in Chicago bringing in Johnson as another veteran voice in the locker room. The 1,024-game veteran should help the team's prospects and younger players due to his experience. Furthermore, once the 2023 Trade Deadline rolls around, he also could be a good rental candidate to flip for a draft pick.
