Edmonton Oilers Re-Sign Winger
The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed Tyler Benson to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $750,000 cap hit.
Benson will be trying to make the 2022-23 season the one where he finally breaks out. During this past campaign, he played in a career-high 29 games for the Oilers but only recorded a goal and an assist. That wasn't a particularly impressive showing from the second-round pick, but the new year offers a clean slate.
Benson will be aiming to make the Oilers' NHL roster out of camp. It will be intriguing to see if he can secure himself a spot in their bottom six and make a bigger impact offensively. At worst, he will continue to be a serviceable depth forward for them.
