Minnesota Wild Sign Free-Agent Forward
The Minnesota Wild continue to add talent to their roster as they have announced the signing of college free-agent forward Sammy Walker. The team signed Walker to a two-year entry-level contract as the local product 'heads home'.
Walker was recently the captain of the University of Minnesota, where he spent four seasons, three of which leading the team as captain. The 5-foot-11 center enjoyed a productive season year, recording 14 goals, 13 assists in 39 contests.
Walker had until Monday of this week to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who originally drafted him in the seventh-round of the 2017 draft and the two could not reach an agreement. Wild general manager Bill Guerin saw the opportunity to pounce and secured some local talent for the future.
