NHL Rumors: Teams Interested In Free Agent Tyler Motte

Tyler Motte remains as one of the better free agent forward options left unsigned by an NHL team for next season. He started last season on the Vancouver Canucks before being dealt to the New York Rangers where he scored two goals in 24 regular season and playoff games combined.

The lack of offense would have played a part in why the Rangers elected not to re-sign him, but Motte brings physicality and some scoring at times to the bottom-six of the lineup. Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic reported that four to five teams have shown serious interest in the 27-year-old forward but are still trying to move other salaries out.

Motte shouldn't cost more than $1 million to sign, but many teams don't even have that much to work with. The forward has played more than 58 games in a season once in his six year career, so there's always the option to scratch him without disturbing his effectiveness. At this point it is likely Motte will sign with a team before the season starts.
