NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks Linked to Free-Agent Defenseman
According to Patrick Johnston at The Province, the Vancouver Canucks have been linked to free-agent defenseman Calvin de Haan. The 31-year-old remains unsigned over a month into free agency.
Johnston had this to say in the Province as speculation is brewing concerning the Canucks blue line:
The search for one more defender with experience is likely still a priority and The Fourth Period’s Irfaan Gaffar suggested Wednesday the team might have talked contract with free agent Calvin de Haan, a left-shot defenceman who has played 520 NHL games for the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks
De Haan made $4.55 million against the cap last season and won't be getting anything close on his next deal. It's likely at this point he signs a one-year deal worth $1 million at most.

Last season the veteran defenseman recorded eight points in 69 games and was a minus -21 rating on a very bad Blackhawks team. His best season came back in 2015-16 as a member of the Islanders when De Haan recorded 25 points in 82 games and was a plus +15.
Dhaliwal saying the Canucks are in on Calvin De Haan and he believes Poolman is still having headache issues 👀
