Tampa Bay Lightning Sign Defenseman To Extension
Earlier this offseason, the Tampa Bay Lightning acquired Philippe Myers from the Nashville Predators as a part of the Ryan McDonagh trade. Now, before even making his debut for the Lightning, Myers has earned himself a one-year, $1.4 million contract extension.
Talk about an interesting move by the Lightning. Myers is coming off a down year that saw him placed on waivers by the Predators. In 27 games in 2021-22, Myers had one goal, four points, and a plus-5 rating. Overall, it was a year of mixed results for him, but he will now be aiming to turn things back around with the Lightning.
It will be intriguing to see how Myers performs with the Lightning from here. Clearly GM Julien BriseBois has a lot of faith in him, so let's see if this gamble pays off for him.
