Winnipeg Jets Re-Sign Forward
The Winnipeg Jets have signed David Gustafsson to a two-year contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.
Gustafsson was the Jets' last remaining RFA. The 22-year-old played in just two games for the Jets this season, where he failed to get on the scoresheet. In 47 contests with the Manitoba Moose on the year, he 15 goals and 30 points.
Gustafsson will be pushing for a spot in the Jets' bottom six from here. The 22-year-old may not possess much offensive upside, but he has been praised for his steady defensive play. That, in turn, could help find a home on the Jets' fourth line this upcoming campaign. Time will tell on that front.
