A veteran of 520 NHL games, the 31-year-old played 74 of them with Carolina during the 2018-19 season.
de Haan is a familiar face to the Hurricanes organization, as he spent the 2018-19 season with the team. In 74 games as Hurricane during his first stint with the team, he had one goal to go along with 13 assists. Now, he is hoping to get another chance to play for them, but he will need to impress at camp for that to have any chance of coming to fruition.
de Haan's offensive game has taken a step back since then, and his stats from the 2021-22 season with the Chicago Blackhawks show that effectively. In 69 games this past season, he had four goals, four assists, and a rough minus-21 rating. Overall, it was a down year for the 31-year-old, but he will now be hoping for the opportunity to have a bounce-back year in Carolina.
When looking at the Hurricanes' defensive group, de Haan would be competing for a depth role. Here's to hoping he can earn a deal from here.
